Years ago, I religiously read all the earlier Stephanie Plum books (from books one, seven to eighteen) before realising that after a while, I didn’t learn anything new with each book. After years of skipping Plum adventures, I decided to again dive into the crazy bonds enforcement world to see if I had missed anything.
In this one, Connie Rosolli, the beloved longtime office manager of Vinnie’s Bail Bonds went missing. When her abductor said she would only be released in exchange for a particular coin, Stephanie went on a crazy adventure hunt with the help of her Grandma Mazure, sidekick Lula, on-again-off-again boyfriend Morelli, and of course Ranger the hunk.
Turns out, I didn’t miss anything. I was equally comfortable and dissatisfied to find that, again, there was nothing new about Plum. Things still blew up predictably, and Plum was still stuck between Ranger and Morelli. Having said that, I guess it was like ‘coming home’ to see the same beloved characters still acting the same way, and nothing bad would ever happen to Stephanie, and she’d never have to choose between two hot guys!
I’ll come back to the series again in the future (maybe once every couple of years), but in the meantime, I’ll stick to Evanovich’s new series if I want some unexpected twists and turns.

I was hoping to like this more but it reads like the 29th novel cranked out in the series. I’m always happy to have a strong female protagonist and there were some twists to the plot but it also felt fairly predictable and some characters were lacking development. A quick easy beach read?

Loved reading another Stephanie adventure and including Grandma Mazur and Morellis' grandmother together.
