Stephanie Plum goes to the bail bonds off and finds the door still locked - Connie hasn't beaten her there, which is unusual. As the day goes on and there is still no word from Connie, Stephanie knows that something is wrong. Her worst fears come true when she receives a call from the kidnapper stating that Vinny has something that he wants. As Stephanie and Lulu look for Connie, they realize that the kidnappers mean business and they are willing to hurt anyone who gets in their way.

As usual, Lorelai King does an exceptional job of representing all characters from Stephanie to Ranger to Grandma Mazur. No two voices are ever the same and each brings a smile to my face. I could only imagine how wonderful story times were at her house growing up.

Although it follows the formula a little too often, the Stephanie Plums series is a wonderful way to clear a reading slump. These are always simple stories that are always enjoyable and well worth the read and this one hasn't changed.
