What a great convoluted story! The timeline jumped a bit but wasn’t confusing. This is one of my “favorite unknown” writers and I’ll read anything she does.
Secrets, guilt and friendship. Oh - and death. Luna and Owen have all of these…..
I loved Lisa Lutz’s Spellman Files series, and while this was very different, it was equally as engaging. The story of Luna and Owen is told back and forth through time, unwrapping the set of stories between the two. It’s always a sign of a good book when you stay up way past time to go to bed to finish it…..

I like Lisa Lutz a lot and will read anything she does. I liked this… but I’m not sure that it amounted to much.

I haven't read anything by Lisa Lutz since the Spellman Files a long time ago and was pleasantly surprised by this well written suspense story.
While I felt like the story lost a bit of it's steam near the ending I generally liked the plot and the pace. Jumping back and forth in time can sometimes be messy and disjointed but in this case it worked out well in terms of showing different perspectives. The characters felt well fleshed out, even the minor ones. Luna and Owen were presented in a way that complemented their numerous flaws and made them likable even despite them.

Wow this book was good. I got through it much faster than some of the other books I’ve read this year. The alternating storylines between past and present kept me turning pages. My one critique is that the author kept switching between using the first and last names for the detectives, which made it hard for me to follow. Just stick with one name and use that throughout the book! Otherwise, it was a fun, quick read for me.

3.5 stars. A decent mystery and some unusual plot lines.
