very predictable, enjoyed the romance between Ryan and Avery, but was glad this book itself was not presented to me as romance, as that was just plot line that added to the coming age/redemption story that was told. I felt that Avery grew as a character and became more likable as the book went on.

I was a part of Hannah’s team for HerCampus High School ambassadors back in 2012/2013.

Since then, I’ve been able to follow Hannah’s career from social media. This was the first book I’ve read of hers and I really enjoyed reading about the world of gymnastics. I was involved in the sport when I was younger and appreciated a storyline that dove into the dedication needed to compete at the highest level.

This story also contains a romance between coworkers, dives into sexual assault, and mental health.

Lots of insight into the world of Olympic qualifying gymnastics, including all the tumbling moves you love (and some you’ve never heard of). A story of personal growth with just a little bit of romance thrown in - mostly kissing.

This incudes my least favorite contemporary romance trends:
  • First-person narration
  • therapy-adjacent language
  • heroine journey to self-improvement
  • hero is perfect, makes one minor mistake, goes way above to apologize and atone for it

A decent read if you’re fired up about the Olympics and like a closed door romance.

A fun YA (late teens) story in the world of gymnastics. Not a normal romance genre, but there is a blooming relationship within.

TW: sexual assault, domestic violence (verbal)

I've never read a gymnastics story (I might have watched a few Katelyn Ohasi floor routines after reading a bit about it haha). As mentioned in the authors note, it would have been a timely novel if the Tokyo olympics weren't postponed because of COVID. Super quick and easy read.

Loved this book. I enjoyed the dynamic between Avery and Hallie and how Avery was a great roll model to her. I liked how Avery and Ryan’s relationship wasn’t cheesy or far fetched. This book is about perseverance and accepting that your path in life can change. Solid book.
