I don't get it. It's a weird hybrid fiction/poetry/critical theory on something I've not read/self-help book. And none of those aspects worked for me. I didn't feel like I knew any of the characters by the end of it. I wish it had said, clearly, 'Need to have read Ted Hughes' Crow poem (s?) before attempting' on the cover. I mean, all I can tell you about it for certain is that a woman died before it all started. The rest is smudgy.

A heart wrenching book about the trials and tribulations of familial and maternal grief. Truly a book of human essence. A journey of sadness. Of hatred. Of hope. A feeling in the darkest parts of oneself. A feeling I am gratefully unfamiliar. Words that will sting and stay till I die..

Look I took the advice of another reviewer and let go of my analysis brain to just focus on the vibes of the thing and the vibes were good and poignant I suppose but this wasn't really a form of writing about grief that connected with me
This is purely just a personal preference - porter's style of poetry is abstract and full of structural fuckery which I'm sure is very purposeful and cool but not in a way I understand
