A high 3 stars. Definitely a good read, bit the unexpected twists and turns are done better by the show. Fairly predictable, but the triangle is good, and the secondary characters are pretty solid as well.

I didn't really like this book. I didn't end up reading it all so I feel like I might not have read it to its full potential. I think I have my expectations up really high for books and it just wasn't doing it for me. I'm not saying its a bad book or anything but I thought the book was really confusing at the start so I lost interest

So, two months later, I finally finished this book. It took me so long because I really didn't enjoy it, but I couldn't make myself stop reading it. I started because I really like the tv show, but this book is nothing like the tv show. Needless to say, I will not be reading the rest of the books in the series. Not only was I disappointed with how different the story was, but I was also disappointed in the writing style. Obviously it was written for a much younger age group, but I still thought it was a tad young even for the target audience.

Love the show, not a fan of the books. A bit too 'young' of a YA for me.

I read these because I love the tv series. The books are definitely written for young teen readers, whereas the show was made for older teens and adults. I probably won’t read more books in this series.

The Awakening drags while The Struggle picks up the pace a little. Overall, the first 2 books were ok. A decent read.

I was just bored and looking for a good book to read during the holidays so i thought i'd grab the first book out of the vampire diaries series.
I am totally in love with the series playing on CW so I thought the books would be just as good.

well.... thought wrong.
In the books you get absolutely no connection with any of the caracters. Everyone seems to be so selfish, all the time it seems to be about Elena and Caroline fighting over Stefen and elena is just using Bonnie end Meredith. Elena also is projected as the perfect girl who gets everything she wants while the tv series give you a totally different insight.

So i didn't like the book sinse i didn't got caught into it.
