Definitely a guilt pleasure book. I’m not a big fan of the main character, the writing, or the insta love in this story. However, it was a quick read with a fast moving plot. I do like the show more than the book. 😵

Read the first book in the 8th grade because I worked in the library and it looked interesting! then flash forward & now it's one of the most famous shows on TV! <3 awesome!

In the beginning, I really hated Elena. She becomes a great character in the story later on!

I was very excited to read this book at first after watching most of the tv show. Honestly I didn't know what to expect, actually I did. I was hoping that it would be very much like the show. With all of the same problems and characters and showing everyone's lives. It was probably my fault for watching the show before reading this book, I probably would have liked it more than I had hoped. But... on a nicer look this book made me love Stefan even more than I did in the TV show. In the TV show everyone is basically rooting for Damon and Elena, but oh how I loved Stefan's character in the book, that's honestly what made me love the book so much. Who wouldn't want an epic love like Stefan Salvatore? I know I would not turn down him. In the end I did enjoy this book and how it was written in every ones view it made you see what you needed to see and left you hanging. I will definitely be reading the other books to the series, I absolutely recommend this book.

So different from the show, but I did enjoy it. I just thought some of the characters could be more fleshed out, and it is very Elena-centric. Also, there's no diversity in this book; it seems like everyone is perfect and skinny, with blond hair and blue eyes.

honestly idky i dived into this thinking ill like it. I did have hopes it would be good bc of its similarities with twilight but i just couldnt stand reading through the perspective of the fl. Her main goal was just to gain guys attention and that was just annoying. Like pls get a life rather than chasing boys all day tf
sigh* anyways this book just aint for me
