This felt like a typical mafia romance with the usual “kidnapped woman made theirs” trope. I enjoyed Kat’s feisty attitude at the start throwing a bat at Max was epic, but she got way too comfortable too quickly.

 

I was glad when Dante took care of her brother, though I would have preferred he gave her the chance to make him grovel before dealing with him; he deserved it. Sal was a complete POS, and while I was happy to see him get his comeuppance, the shock he received before dying was justified.

 

Although there were some good moments, I struggled to stay engaged. I plan to read the next book for my A–Z challenge, though I’m unsure if I’ll continue with the series after that.

 

If you enjoy mafia romance with forced proximity and a protective MMC, this book is for you.

One of my least favorite tropes, wish I had known before I started to read it. Also, the spice scenes were the same over and over again. Not sure if all her books are like that but I got bored and then annoyed with the worst trope of all.
