Enjoyable

Jag & Jo were definitely a little tumultuous. Lots of misfires, preventing them from getting their shot. I definitely wanted some sort of comeuppance for the guy with the serious misdeeds, and I think Jag & Jo glossed over important things that deserved more of a conversation, but it did hit all my highlights.
Definitely a slower pace, at least as far as the romance goes.
I’m definitely curious about the other Cruz brothers.

College sports romances just don't do it for me. The big sports-related or BMOC-related conflicts just don't do it for me. This was fine, but didn't really break out of the genre. Rich kids doing rich kids stuff. Yawn

The Heartbreaker was the perfect quick read that I needed.

Jagger Cruz, football star, and Josephine were childhood friends. When a chance meeting in college throws them together for a night these two become more enemies than friends. After a few years of avoidance they randomly become roommates and ignoring is no longer an option. While I feel like the reason for the avoidance was never fully explained I loved these two together. After I finished I just felt good about the book and really enjoyed their story. I loved the secrets shared and long talks they only trusted each other with. There were sweet moments and messy moments and definitely steamy moments. A great romance for those who love a second chance!

This book had so many things that normally, I love - childhood friends / family friends, sports romance, accidental roommates. But the way it was all put together just really didn’t work for me.

For one, Jagger is hooking up with one girl casually for the first half of the book. And Jagger is just an annoying, egotistical, asshole. He never shows he cares about Jo until they’re alone, to the point of hurting her / disrespecting her by ignoring her. And then when he *thinks* she’s back with her ex, he cheats on her.

I just can’t read books where the guys are like this… arrogant, stuck up, douchebags.

The start of this book didn’t pull me in as much as I hoped. Jagger and Josephine have known each other since childhood and one night they met again at a party. They talk, they flirt, I think it was her who asked her to sleep with her and they had sex. It was off the page so yeah, since the book is basically about that I was hoping for more details. It’s also her first time.

Fast forward, they found out they are both renting the same apartment. Yeah, again, we’re thrown into the situation. I didn’t know much what happened years (?) ago when they slept together but they don’t like each other. I wouldn’t say they hate each other because frankly, there’s nothing to hate. She’s avoiding him (not as much as I thought from the blurb of the book), they make an agreement to sleep together and they do. Basically, not a lot of conflict in this book and when the ”big one” came I wasn’t really impressed. I do think they could have communicated more and that Jagger should apologize for what he did. However, ending was pretty quick too so if you’re interested for a book to pass time, this one is for you.

But if you want enemies to lovers feeling, this one wasn’t really it.

3.5 stars.

It isn’t enticing enough. And I feel I’m not in the mood for college romance… well not this kind of college romance…

I fell in love with this amazing sports romance, Josephine and Jagger's story was what I needed after diving into very dark romance books. Jagger the popular football star got to my heart and soul. This enemies-to-lovers second chance story will be one you will enjoy, it will hook you from the start and won't let you stop until you reach the very end. It has some angst and drama, but it's sweet and romantic. Will have you smiling at the end.
