All I can say is, wow. Again, another serial novel collected into eBook form by Skyla Dawn Cameron, The Beginning is the first novel in the Children of the Apocalypse series. She gives a bit of background as to how the novel got it's start in the foreword, and let me tell you, it is easy to picture this as a television series as she originally intended for it to be.

In The Beginning we meet the main characters of the series - Genevieve, Meredith, Sage, and Michael - all of whom are likeable - well, except for Michael. You'd have be one who loves jerks in order to love him. ;) But the fact remains that the characters draw you in. While you don't get a lot of backstory on them, it stands to reason you will in later novels.

The gist of this is: the apocalypse is coming and there are three girls who can stop it. The Warrior, The Witch, and The Seer. Obviously someone doesn't want the apocalypse to be stopped - they crave Hell on Earth, and so the three girls are in danger. This is where Michael comes in - he will be the mentor and protector of the three girls.

Obviously the three girls are Genevieve, Meredith, and Sage, however I'm not going to tell you who is who. You'll have to read the novel for yourself to find that out.

The characters are extremely interesting and obviously well developed. The writing is also very well done, although I have seen better writing, I have seen far worse writing than this, and frankly, it's much better than I could ever hope to do. :)

If you are curious, you can check out the entire series at Skyla Dawn Cameron's Official Website under the serials heading. Please be advised that in order to view anything past Chapter 7 of the third novel in the series, The Ritual, you will need to be registered with her site and amassed 50 points there.

All in all it is a wonderful book - I have it in eBook form and I also have the second book in the series in eBook form. I can't wait to delve into the second book and I'll have a review of it as soon as I do!
