You’re confused? I’m fucking confused, bro. I honestly am not sure what the point of this book was. It has a decent plot, but I’m missing the message. I mean, I am able to distinguish themes, but they just don’t feel developed. Also what the hell is up with Ina? I did not get it, but I guess it was a mildly interesting ride. And to anyone who says this book is gross and disgusting… it wasn’t even that bad?? Maybe it’s just because I’m used to horror, but this was so mild in my opinion.

A sad boy, a kooky overlord, and an old maid with magical titties. Whats not to like?

This is what i imagine taking psychedelics feels like.  Ottessa Moshfegh is clearly very talented because i was so intrigued in the worst possible way that i had to see it through. I kept looking at the invisible camera in my life at every other scene, like how does her mind work?

This book is not for the faint-hearted. Definitely good for those who can stomach Moshfegh's style of writing, but it is hard to get through. Be prepared for incredibly graphic scenes of human debauchery.
