Way too much telling me rather than showing me! I get we need the world building but I was just info dumped and felt tedious and confusing. I was listening rather that reading so this could add to the problem. I don’t love the narrator and that can really sink an experience with a book.

All that being said- I liked it enough to go onto the next book- if I get it on kindle unlimited or audible freebies.

At the end of the day, I was entertained while doing laundry and carpool so, it’s a win.

4.5 stars from me! This was bought for me as a blind date with a book from a friend for my birthday and I LOVED it!! I feel it could have been a tad shorter, some bits felt like they went on for longer than they should that's why I gave it 4.5 stars, but oh God it was good! The relationship between Romeria and Zander was sizzling and I LOVE the transition from the real world to this fantasy world! Can't wait to read book 2

This is an epic tale of love, betrayal, lies and so much more! I absolutely adore the FMC in this book she is a breath of fresh of fresh air! The MMC is one of my new favourites!

Good banter, amazing tension and a beautifully described world! Will definitely leave you wanting more thankfully the next book is already waiting.

I've been on a world/dimension-hopping mood lately and this book was just what I needed. The world is interesting. While most books wouldn’t work with the lore dump, it’s needed when the main character doesn’t know anything about the world they’ve woken up in. It also made it easier to digest as Romeria would repeat bits of lore she’d learned. I wasn't expecting vampires but the twist on the age-old immortals was intriguing, especially with Romeria's mortal-world knowledge.

Romeria was a great character. Her sharp internal monologue made me chuckle more than once. In the beginning, it was interesting to see how different elf!Romeria was portrayed compared to NYC!Romeria, but as the book progressed, we learned that her elven counterpart might not have been so different. I loved learning about the ditzy princess and her true motives. I think she was having second thoughts when the time came to betray Zander.

I felt bad for Zander from the moment he was introduced. He exudes sad boi energy and I want to give him a hug. He’s trying his best! I can’t even imagine how betrayed he must have felt and to have to be suspicious of his closest companions.

Overall, this was a good read. I have a lot of questions about the gods and their motives, especially considering what happened at the end. Also, how is Romeria's mother tied into this? Will she be making an appearance in the next book? Just how much of Romeria's life has Malachai had his hands in? So many questions!

Fav Character: Romeria
Verdict: 4 stars
