The beginning seemed like it has vampires, but then there was no indication that that was what was happening until almost halfway into the book-I DNF’d as soon as I knew for sure because I hate reading about vampires and authors making the “feeding” seem like a sexual turn on. Plus I really hate that it’s referred to as “feeding”. Gives me the ick.

Okay first off, I am not a fan of the title being "A __ of __ & __" that's so freaking popular with fantasy romances these days.
But I am a KA Tucker fan, so I said, "let's give it a try".
The whole being thrust into another body at another place/time without any proper explanation? Not. A. Fan. I was frustrated for Romeria because all she was trying to do was survive. Now she's a pawn in someone else's game. Also, gods meddling in the lives of mortals? Hate that shit.
The tension, though? THE TENSION? Delicious.
Zander is that guy who's angry with the FMC but still so attracted to her, so the attraction and the anger blend and turn into explosive angst.
I am rooting for this couple. A lot of people are plotting against them, and their road to a happy existence seems to be impossible yet at this time, but I am hopeful everything will be resolved.
