The narrator was not my type. Maybe better as a visual read.
This was such a refreshing fantasy, different from any others I’ve read before! I was absolutely addicted to this book! I love Romeria’s personality and the relationships she forms along the way. This was such a gripping, fun, and twisty story that had me hooked from the moment she was no longer in NYC!

Do you love wild prophecies … crazy creatures … magic…a good mystery… an unlikely romance?? If so, this book is for you!

I had initially put this book on pause because it was taking me some time to get into, but I am SO glad I revisited it! Our FMC Romeria goes from thieving in NYC to a whole other universe where she is suddenly royalty from a rival kingdom set to marry a prince. The beginning is action packed and the set-up to get from one world to the next was intricate, as was the rest of the world building throughout. The MMC, Zander, is hot, charming, and mistrusting (for reasons), and I loved seeing his character arc unfold. For the first book in a series, I felt that A Fate of Wrath and Flame was super well done and solid in its initial storytelling, even if it occasionally felt drawn out. Very excited to see where this goes!

Started out strong with a super interesting story. The main issue I have is that the MMC is pretty boring. The world and the challenges faced are really cool, but the romance fell short for me. Even the spicy chapters are pretty boring. I wish the author had spent more time building up the connection between the characters and showing us the interactions more in depth. While I had these challenges, I think the book is really interesting and I immediately started the second one. The story is so engrossing and the FMC is really engaging.

When they said this was enemies to lovers, I was not expecting it to be this DEEP enemies to lovers. She killed people in his family enemies to lovers, but she doesn't recall any of it. Like what!! It's more complicated than that so I don't want to say more because it gets confusing. But because the story started out confusing (1700s to present time to another realm). Which was hard to follow and I thought I was going to DNF this but I'm so glad I pushed through!
The narrator was hard to listen to because I couldn't tell when it was the character talking out loud or in her head. But another thing to get over because the world-building is top-tier as well as the storyline and development. I was so hooked that I didn't even realize it when the audiobook ended and I immediately played the second book. Looks like I'm going to have to buy the other 2 books cause there's no way I'm going to be able to survive another cliffhanger.
