A fun read for me. It's got a Kingdom of the Cursed feel for me in terms of the atmosphere, mystery powers, character interactions and the slow burn romance...oh how I love slow burn romance when it is done right. I think this book did it right, just enough to get you thinking and then doesn't leave you hanging with frustration either. The writing style is alright, but K.A. is great at building an interesting world and plot!
This was good and I like the plot however it is a little slow and the chapters are quite long but overall, I enjoyed it.
I received an e-ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review. Review can also be found on *Milky Way of Books*
This book was a huge step for K.A. Tucker whom I had mostly connected with contemporary books. Needless to say that I enjoyed reading about her new world filled with magic and these strange gods/fates which I didn't like at all.
I loved the characters. I really liked Romeria/Romy. She was fierce and amazing. And I loved how she acted towards the people of this strange and fantasy world she finds herself in. I loved Corrin (a lady's maid), Wendeline (a healer), Elisaf (a guard), Dagny (seamstress), and Zander (the king). These characters were all so unique and added so much to the story, which may have been long, and for me it may have dragged a little but that didn't stop me from wanting to see how the plot would move.
And the ending while not exactly a cliffhanger it left me in a place where I want to see what will happen next.

I have mixed emotions about this book. I found the characters hard to care about for the majority of the good, but the plot was interesting enough to keep me engaged and curious enough to continue the series.
