AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
Everything I dream of in an AF book - immersive world-building, no - really! Discovering this universe has been such a treat - personally enjoyed that this book took its time, and gave us the possibility to adapt and understand the rules of this world.
Love the FL - Romy, whilst she falls into the cliche of having a specific skill that ends up not being used throughout the whole book, it drove the story forward, so it can be easily overlooked (and there is always book two!).
THE TENSION between the FL and ML was perfection, and is still present at the end - cannot WAIT for book two!
Out of all disappointing book tok recommendations this has been a real gem.

This was kinda lacklustre at parts but was still a decent book
'A Fate of Wrath & Flame' is K. A Tucker's first book in her Fate & Flame series. Living in New York City working for crime bosses as a thief has always had its risks but things are about to take a very unexpected and dangerous turn for Romeria. 'Offered' a job a sword point Romeria awakens in the body of a princess also named Romeria who was thought to be killed. What's more this Romeria seems to live in a different world full of magic and kingdoms, with the one shes in she just betrayed and killed the King. Having think fast on her feet Romeria is forced to adopt this life and must navigate this new world to find what it is that she was hired to steal.
spoilers
There just something missing in books that start off in 'modern' regular urban settings and then we find ourselves in a magical different land. I think I would have liked this better if Romeria didnt share a name with the princess, if there was clear difference between who she was and who's bodies she now has I think the same name thing but still being two different people didnt add anything to the story and just made it messy and took away from other more important things.
On top of that I didnt fully believe or feel the different reasons that characters did things. It felt at times like it was done just to keep the plot going even if it didnt match the characters previous actions or personality. Case in point keeping her alive, do they really think they are fooling anyone and why try? So many were part of the hunt for her theres no way the guards aren't going to talk and this isn't going to get out, plus the killing her things. The siblings back and forth with hating her not hating her. Also if someone saved my life yet is the cause for the death and almost death of every member of my family I doubt I would be springing them from jail.
The pacing didnt do it for me, it felt so slow then suddenly something big would happen with no build up and it also usually didnt make sense with everything else so it wasn't the greatest from that stand point. Also Im very much over vampires, Which is completely a me thing.
I won't be continuing on with this series, it just wasn't for me.

Given the tropes of this book, I thought I would enjoy it more. However, the story fell flat and I couldn't connect with any of the characters. I kept waiting for something more to happen, but it never did. There also wasn't much romance, so overall, this book was not for me.
Fav quote:
"But then Zander does something that catches me off guard. He smiles. A lip-parting, eye-twinkling, dimple-popping smile that promises mischief, transforming his handsome, albeit severe, face to one of boyish charm. It appears so genuine that even I’m having a hard time reminding myself of the loathing behind it. I feel my own face transform with a smile that is for once not forced but relieved and maybe even a touch giddy."
Tropes:
-enemies to lovers
-marriage of convenience
-amnesia
