For me finishing this book was a real perceverance challenge. I have to admit I skipped some descriptions by the last chapters...

Interesting and mysteriously intriguing at times. But gets too repetitive, esoteric, and long-winded to qualify as the "Greatest Horror Story" ever written. Ultimately failed to deliver.

this was a huge bore. the writing is so insanely dense, I had to stop reading after 2 pages most of the time. the last two chapters had so many redeeming factors and if the whole novel had gone that way, my rating would have increased drastically. I would like to say I'd re-read it when I have time but it isn't even a short story I can read in an hour or so. it'll take me the amount of time it takes me to read the average 400 paged book.

It was definitely a challenging read. The last three stories are what made up for this book.
