The jumping timelines sometimes made this difficult to follow. I felt like this book should have been longer. It felt like it both started and ended abruptly, but I liked the word choices and voice of the author.

While I can appreciate the mother/daughter link, as I’m so close to my mom, and I typically adore WWII, this was far too slow for me.

Type of read: Commuter Read.

What made me pick it up: One of  Tennessee R.E.A.D.s prompts for May is to read a book set in a city you want to visit. I opened up my TBR and figured a country I wanted to visit (Germany) also worked. 'Send for Me' has been in my TBR for quite some time so it was a win-win.

Overall rating: 'Send for Me' is beautifully tragic and poetic. I wish I had read a tangible version of the book, I think it would have been easier to comprehend the time switches, but overall I enjoyed 'Send for Me.' The way Fox interconnects the perspectives, how they write the characters, and their expression of what's happening in their lives was probably my favorite part of 'Send for Me.' I would recommend it, in a tangible form, for anyone interested in historical and personal life-based novels.

This was a quick read that i enjoyed. I read like a snapshot which did leave me with a feeling of incompletion

Achingly beautiful. One of the best historical fictions I’ve read in a long time. It really shows the aches and pains Jewish families suffered while being separated from each other and their life completely uprooting.

I want to like this book so badly that I almost despise it… It is so unorganized and changes story lines very abruptly. The ending is horrendous and unfinished.

I think it needed a few more rounds of refinement and edits.

DNF. I really enjoyed the beginning of the story. Then the writing style was just not my thing. It jumped all over the place. It didn't make any sense to me and I lost interest in all of the characters. I ready slightly over half of the book and decided to put it down.

I love stories and historical fiction about the ww2 era but I just could not get into this one at all. The writing style wasn’t for me..and although I did finish it it was a relief when it was over. Pass on this one

I urge anyone who reads this book to flip to the end and start with the author’s note prior to reading this one.

This book weaves between four generations of women and shows the impact that love and loss can have on a family.

Although this book is partially set in the WWII era, it largely focuses on those who were able to escape Germany and the trauma and caution that forever marked their lives after leaving. I do think this is a road less-traveled in WWII historical fiction, and it was an interesting perspective.

This book would have probably been a 2-star read for me until I read the author’s note, which made me change it to a 3-star read. I personally thought the characters were hard to connect with and the ending was deeply disappointing. There was one particular storyline that didn’t seem necessary and then just dropped off at the end.
