I'd really hoped that this would engage me, but it ended up a DNF. Why? The main characters, Tatiana and Alexander, didn't engage me. The author describes them as silent or withdrawn, and while there are flashes of inner life I never felt that there was anyone there to explore. The flashbacks to their lives during the war will, I guess, appeal to those who have read the first two books, but I didn't really care.

Their story never stops. In the end, the most amazing series of books. The most powerful love story. Not just what they went through, what they endured, but all the in between.

2.5 stars.
This book was the worst of the series, I wish I'd never picked it up and read it.
I couldn't even finish it. It ruined Alexander and Tatiana's relationship. Alexander turned into a complete areshole in this book, I just wish I had never read this book, I had such a strong dislike of this book. I couldn't finish the book but I read elsewhere what would happen. I got close to finishing but I was just unable to. read the rest of the book because it was so tedious. I do not recommend this book. Yes read "The Bronze Horseman" and "Bridge to Holy Cross" also known as "Tatiana and Alexander" as they are fantastic books which I could not put down and kept thinking about! But this one is a very big disappointment and a complete let down.

Spoiler
he beat Tatiana at least once and at one point he basically raped her when she said "don't touch me.". Spousal rape, I mean sure she enjoyed it by the end of it but she didn't want to have sex with him when he started. Then he almost cheated on her, in fact he basically did. He went and made out with another mans wife and fully intended to sleep with her when he went out that night. He also kept blaming her for the fact that she couldn't get pregnant.
Without a doubt this was the worst book I've read in my entire life.

I don't care what you think. And yeah... I see it too. Still - I live it!
