Will write a review when I have sufficiently recovered.

So glad I perservered through this book. I loved the first one and didn't like the second one. The second one(Tatiana and Alexander) had too little emotion for me; this one starts with overwhelming emotion--you feel like you are being bludgeoned with it; you want to scream at them to talk, to tell each other what is going on. But it realistic about how people probably felt after going through what they had been through. I must admit I skimmed through the Vietnam firefight in the hopes of finally getting to the happy ending!
emotional hopeful sad slow-paced

The weaknesses in Tatiana and Alexander's characters from the first two books are starkly evident here. Tatiana's inability to be honest, out of fear or stupidity, Alexander's inability to be trustworthy and his difficulty with being kind - it's hard to follow a love story well past its romance into the reality of a lifetime. Not as compelling or appealing as the first two books, but still worth the read for the peek in back in to this story.

I can understand why this book is so divisive for fans of the series. The younger, more endangered lovers were, in their intense passion and so often kept apart by external forces, incredibly compelling reading. But this book does an absolutely outstanding job of describing the hard, slogging WORK of loving and living with someone for all the days of your life. It is particularly honest and authentic in descriptions of trauma and PTSD--Alexander does indeed engage in abusive behaviour, and it's inexcusable, but it is REAL, and demonstrates how very complex and murky even good people can be. People we love can (and do!) hurt us. We may stop loving them, or we may press forward in spite of the hurt and fear. Maybe that's good, maybe that's bad, but let us not ignore Tatiana's agency. She can go, sometimes she thinks about it, but she always CHOOSES her path.

You usually don't see the full playing out of an epic romance, through the massive peaks and valleys, and through the challenge of boredom and inertia, warts and all. I really appreciated this series for laying bare the full spectrum of long-term, wounded love.

No rating and I barely finished this because Alexander is, and forgive my french here, a dick

This book took me 3 months to read but it wasn't the fault of the book. A necessary wrapping up of Alexander and Tatiana's love story ♡

Epic. Disagreed with a lot of the actions undertaken by some characters but ultimately ended well. Love Tatiana.

While I love Tatiana & Alexander this book was hard to read. Parts of their relationship seemed abusive and I struggled with reading the book, it felt so heavy, which is saying something since there is war involved. I did love to see the span of their life though & to see what happened.

I was so happy that she finished the series by neatly tying up everything. I hate when they leave you wondering what happens to the main characters at the end of a book or series. She didn't do that, which I appreciated. I couldn't put it down.
