This title is killer – I didn't want to read this because of it but was required to read this book. It turned out ok. I didn't read the last part in detail but the rest of it was actually good. However, I would say I 'learned' most of the principles through observing people who had those qualities... The book verbalised them, but I'm not sure how much you can learn these through reading about them! Nice to be able to identify what made a great person you know so wonderful though.

Definitely a book everyone should read to better hone their compassion and leadership skills. I think I appreciate this edition a whole lot more than the original one that I'd read in my high school years, because the modern examples of becoming an "influencer" without falling victim to the "scandals" and negativity that have plagued influencer status in our modern media are very well-explained. Putting common sense into a practical perspective.

I've been having the original book on my TBR for a while now but I kept avoiding it because I knew how outdated the language was. This was a great way to dodge that. It explains things well, has great quotes, is easy to get through and I like the chapter hierarchy. The only things I disliked were the examples getting longer and more boring with every chapter and that the book is still very much defaulting to "he" as the default pronoun for examples when the English language has the wonderful "they" for inclusion. Little things in language matter, but this didn't make the actual content of the book worse in any way. Would still recommend this to friends.

You gotta read this. Or the original. Just do it. I promise you’re not good enough to not read it. Oh that’s not going to work. If you’re on good reads, you have to care so much about wanting to expand your mind through reading. This book is suprisingly intelligent, even for those who are suspicious towards self help books. As a thoughtful person interested in self improvement, I think you’d really enjoy it!
