Was not expecting to love this, but this was a really sweet slow burn book that I was totally in the mood for. ❤️ Not a lot of angst/drama, just a simmering build-up between the H/h.

i REALLY LIKEF MADISON she was suchhh a good character and her relationship with jamie was adorbs however i don’t think i like garrett.. no offense like he was sweet but like he was also pissing me off at times not bc he was rude or anything i just didn’t vibe with him and i feel like the ily was lowkey random as hell and IDK i wish they got more romantic moments or smth

hmm

I was absolutely in love with this book…until the sex. I’m trying to make this spoiler free- but it didn’t track for me with the story. Seemed like a complete 180 from what should have happened. But that’s just me. Otherwise I loved it. I cried multiple times and wanted to crawl inside the book and help Maddison. Good read, just an odd turn for me at the end.

So fucking adorable, I’m bursting.

okkkk this was good! i liked Madison ugh what a fab character! i liked that it were some autobiographical elements (which also made me sad) and i always get teary in books like this. i liked the relationship between Garrett and Madison too and Jamie was a sweetheart. i liked that there also wasn't a third act breakup and it was a kinda slow burner.

HOWEVER. as much as Layla was a decent character, she also pissed me off. how are you airing your best friends dirty laundry in front of people you've only just met? and pushing her to do shit she doesn't want to do? that's prob why i didn't give it 4 stars in all honesty.

i mostly dont fw the pacing in this book and how disjointed the narrative is, but other than that, a pretty solid read. strong, nuanced fmc, a classic grumpy mmc, and a cute kid to add that much needed bonding point between the two. i appreciated the discussions on trauma and how madison displays her strength through her vulnerability; she's such an admirable woman and i loved how good of a mother she was, refusing to let society's bs get to her. luv u layla, u my bff

Honestly TOO slow of a burn for my liking (to the point where I got severely bored and lost interest lol).
