DID NOT FINISH

Got really far through this one and I just got a bit bored, I’m my own worse enemy because I complain in other books that the relationship build up isn’t there but then completely glaze over when it takes more than 50% of the book for a kiss.

I’m not rating because I think the book was really well written, and in particular the descriptions around abuse and why people stay was really powerful and dealt with respect and clearly either personal experience or research.

I just didn’t feel engaged, I loved hearing about the relationship with the mum and child and her friendships but the whole pretty much hearing about every shift she works got a bit tedious, and gave me second hand exhaustion.

I think people will find this really relatable, and with great characters it’s just not the story I’m looking for right now.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a story told from a VERY vulnerable place. Their chemistry was amazing and I adored Jamie and Layla!!

Porta-Potty. Enough said.

It’s hard to rate a book when you love the single parent rep, the sassy eight-year-old, and some of the important themes the book touches on, but the book uses the words “males” and “females” way too much and the love interest gives you the ick… I had so many favorite quote highlights, more than most of my recent reads, but I also had to use a new kindle note color for the first time just to track the red flags.
