Jane is mourning the loss of her father and life as she knew it. She and her mom drive from California to her mom’s childhood home.
The trouble starts immediately when Jane starts to see a figure in lit windows of the house. Then the missing time and smell of roses start. the house it seems is trying to make her crazy. Is it just the legacy of an old house or is there some thorn more?

2 might be generous but I did like the idea of the book. But, I had to re-read sections so many times because nothing was sticking. I'm still not sure what I even read.

Took so long to get to the point, I was bored halfway through but didn’t want to DNF because there were some interesting moments. Unfortunately it just fell flat toward the end - all the mysteries are revealed sooo close to the ending, and all that build up for…. Such a strange final scene. It’s kind of set up for a sequel so I wonder if there will be one?
