The tone and art are similar to the show. There are some wonkey/odd moments that dont feel right in the book but other then that its a lot of fun

Why would a goof like me read the comic before watching the show?
Try to get a feel of it, yeah. BUT GOT SERIOUSLY LOST BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW THE MULTIVERSE THING WAS ALWAYS PREVALENT!
Makes a lot more sense if you know the show.

I loved it, really great story/stories, the art was straight out of the show and the humor was great

This is the last book from the September 2016 Comic Bento box. I've never watched Rick and Morty, but this book definitely has an adult swim vibe.

Morty and his grandfather Rick travel to various dimensions generally creating havoc as they go. This felt like a collection of five distinct pieces, although there are some elements that carry through all of them. Those elements show some creativity that made it more enjoyable as it went on.

I liked this book well enough, but it can be pretty superficial. I can't say whether this is a fault of the book or the franchise as a whole. The characters were mostly one dimensional. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I didn't care for any of them. They just weren't very likeable. The plots don't add much depth either.

The art as a whole didn't appeal to me. The character drawings seem true to the show, but doesn't add much. The colors are interesting and some of the aliens/non-human creatures are done well. This should appeal to fans of the show. Others could take it or leave it.

Glorious comic book. If you like the TV series, you'll like the comic books. The first two volumes follow Rick & Morty from dimension C-132, then from volume three onwards they follow R&M from dimension C-137 (the TV series characters). It has the same snappiness and sarcasticness of jokes and the same genre of storylines. It has in-jokes referencing characters from the TV series. And it even has mini comic strip shorts at the end like they do after the credits on the show! I laughed out loud several times whilst reading.

I bought the entire Rick and Morty comic book series to read during their Series 6 mid-season break in 2022. I've found that R&M is one of the only lighthearted stupid thing (media wise) that helps my depression. It's definitely still got that delicous streak of darkness in it, but somehow that makes me feel better not worse. Like it's recognising the horrible meaningless of life instead of brushing over it.

I won't rate all of the comic book individualy because from the first three volumes they're all just as spectacular as the TV series and I don't want to skew my stats because of the volume of high rating for R&M. In short, glorious, I love them, wish they continued publishing them but understand why they didn't; to keep the cannon as tidy as possible for a concept like this.

A great extension of the show. Fast and funny. The writing fits the show style perfectly. Any Rick & Morty fan will enjoy it.

There were some shining hilarity or character development moments in this volume, including the return of Scary Terry, the great follow-through between two issues where an end gag ends up being the next major plot point, & a short at the end where Rick and Morty are traumatized more than usual. Overall, though, this volume didn't quite have the same feel as the show. Timing, jokes, & characters felt a little underdeveloped.
