And on to book 4 of Chestnut Springs…

I some ways, I feel like I’m kind of repeating myself with these reviews because I’ve been on a marathon read for the past couple of days and what I said in my previous 3 reviews apply just as equally for this fourth instalment in terms of backdrop, family and cowboy vibes (👍🏻).

I will say that if I had to rate the couples so far, the story of Winter and Theo would come in third place… Spice and chemistry aside (🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️  of which they have plenty), the miscommunication and surprise pregnancy tropes are not on my list of favourites and the possessive alpha MMC bit is starting to wear thin (probably as a side effect of my binge read). However, it was good to hear about the family drama from Winter’s side which advanced the overall family story arc and it is always nice when the FMC sorts out her own problems with her partner as her cheer section, not as an overbearing knight in shining armour (or spurs in this case since we are talking about cowboys).

Despite being 4 books into the series, I am still enjoying the escapism. So I’m off for my last foray to Chestnut Springs and will report back after I return from book 5…

4 stars 🤓📚

Little disclaimer, I'm not the target audience for these books and they're not my usual genre, just reading them for the fun of it.

As the series goes on these books lose what little plot they had going on from book one, and become basically 400 pages of two characters lusting after each other and having sex. This wouldn't be an issue at all if it was well written and the characters were properly developed, but it isn't and they're not.
This one is not as bad as the previous one, hence the half a star up, but it wasn't great. By this point I had realised the author does not know how to build characters and stick to what she's established, and would rather make them all act and sound the same, which in turn makes the book feel shallow and repetitive.

Maybe I'm the one at fault for reading them all back to back, but I still believe she could've written smut-filled books that at least had a bit more substance, rather than having the characters serve as placeholders for readers to project onto.

This is undoubtedly my favorite in the Chestnut Springs series. I loved Winter the moment I met her in Flawless and I'm so, so happy she got her own book. Her and Theo's story is beautiful and fun and had me by the throat while reading. They still do.
And Theo...my goodness. The man that he is. I wish I could live in this universe forever.

I was really really excited for Theo's book and I was soooooo not disappointed. Theo and Jasper are 100% tied for #1. I also think that Winter is my favorite Chestnut Springs FMC. She was just very relatable and I appreciated that. And the spice? 🥵🥵🤌
