Genuinely creepy at times! It was a quick read but I’d say it felt a bit rushed + didn’t live up to the first two in my opinion. However, it was still enjoyable and left me wanting to read the final book of the series - so you can expect a major cliffhanger, that’s for sure. Loved reconnecting with the characters after a long break from the series 🌊

Side note: absolutely loved that cover art 🔥

Super enjoyable! I absolutely love this middle grade series. It's genuinely dark and creepy and I adore the characters. The third installment in the Small Spaces series is set in the spring and they are about to face a whole new nightmare. The kids know that the smiling man is still out there, the only question is - when is he going to strike next? When the adults are gone, the power turns off and someone starts pounding on the door. Whoever it was, left a black dot and a cryptic note. It's up to Ollie, Coco, and Brian to get to the bottom of it before IT gets to the bottom of then. In the meantime they have a happy distraction, Coco's mom is going to take them on a boat tour of Lake Champlain for a news story about Vermont's very own "loch ness monster," Champ. Very quickly this trip turns creepy and they wonder if the black dot and cryptic note have something to do with a real monster or a mysterious island that just popped up. A nice little twist at the end of this one - I can't wait for the next installment!

While the first in this series remains my favorite, I still love this group of kids and the terrifying adventures they get thrown into.

Extremely quick listen, extremely fun listen. So glad that I realized this isn't the last book in the series before listening to this, or I would have been livid at that ending.

Another great addition to the Small spaces middle grade horror series! This instalment sees the friends stranded on an island in the summer with a dangerous water snake and a ghostly sailor. Friendships are tested the Smiling man makes a final bargain setting up for the fourth and final book. Great on audio and definitely worth checking out if you like a well written #SpookySeason middle grade adventure.

I like how each book in this series is from a different perspective for most of it. This one is Brian’s.

If snakes freak you out, this might get you. The stakes get raised in this book in several ways.

3.5 The Small Spaces Quartet is definitely one of my favorite scary series, however, this book didn't live up to the previous two. It had some great moments and references (Mr. Adler is the best!), the addition of Phil's story is great, but the plot and everything else seemed to miss the mark a bit. I treat is as a transition story to the final instalment, so viewed as that, it is decent. On to the finale!
