A thriller centered on a small tech start-up going on a ski holiday to decide the fate of the company An avalanche traps them. Told from two points of view. While it wasn't the most suspenseful of thrillers, I liked the characters as well as the ending.

This book was so good! I read it in one night‼️ It reminded me of a mix between And Then There Were None and the Hunting Party. Great gift from LJ

Good mystery, gets high grade because it wasn’t too far fetched

2.5 rounded up to 3 stars. Recently I have read several books that feature an isolated mystery in either the Swiss Alps or a ski resort. An isolated mystery is one of the tropes that I love so I have been devouring them. This was the most disappointing out of the three that I have recently read.. I have her all of Ruth Wares books and this fits smack dab in the middle in terms of enjoyment. We follow two points of view during the work retreat for a company called Snoop. Which by the way just seemed stupid for me. Point of view one is Liz who used to work for the company but for some reason has been invited to this retreat. Erin is one of the two people that work at the Swiss chalet and the most likable of all the characters. It soon becomes evident that not all of the coworkers get along and there is an ulterior motive for some of the people there. After the first person goes missing it is then fast-paced as we try to determine who is responsible. The problem with this book for me is that it was not atmospheric at all. It is snowing and and cold out. I did not feel the author spent enough time building the setting up but every once in while would throw in how cold it was or mention the snow. The other issue is I didn’t particularly care for any of the characters although I did like Erin more than anyone else. I had to force myself to read it which is disappointing because I found that Ruth Ware later writing has been much better then her earlier work. If you are a fan of Ruth Ware I would say read it however if this is your first I would recommend picking up The Death of Mrs. Westaway.

It definitely doesn't deserve the hate it is getting

3.5 Stars

My least favorite Ruth Ware thus far. The book epitome of a cracker - forgettable and a bit lackluster but I didn’t actively hate it. Villain is predictable because no one else was very interesting. Ending was weak. Main character’s fortitude as described by previous experience as a medical student and gnarly skier who survived an avalanche juxtaposed with absolute refusal to just cut a bitch down once she figured it out made no sense to me lol
