⭐️Enemies to lovers
⭐️Dark Academia
⭐️Vampires
This is a very interesting/different world that I’ve read so far. I loved the FMC’s fearlessness and the banter with the MMC was perfection. The book started out strong for me but towards the middle and end there were certain parts that were a bit confusing, making me go back to reread certain chapters. There could have been better flow and break down of why certain events were important and how it all tied together. The ending definitely leaves you wanting more! I will be reading book 2!

Throughout the reading, I keep thinking that this book would be such a good TV series. I felt the romance wasn't needed and throughout the story, sometimes it feels like she forgot about her mission to find her sister.

I truly struggled with this book.
The only reason it isn’t 1 star or a DNF because I enjoyed SOME of the book between 40% and 70%.
You spend this whole (very long) book building to this end battle and the book literally ends as the villain shows up. It is so frustrating so push through so much and not get to finished the third act because it’s in the sequel. Like what did I even read this book for?
The world building was so confusing and felt thrown together.
A lot of the writing felt like it was trying to be fantastical and full of beautiful prose but resulted in being unclean and hard to comprehend.
In saying that, I truly appreciated how diverse this book was with a lot of the magic system surrounding and including cultural history and myths from countries in Africa. That was super fun to read about.

Human head butting a wall hard enough to bleed all to try and intimidate a literal vampire is where i drew the line
Absolutely loved this book! It is a different take on vampires for sure. The world building is complex. I really grew attached to the characters & their different personalities. I love that this book has a dark tone to it. I wouldn't say this book had my jaw dropped at the end but I was pleasantly surprised at some of the twists & turns in this book. I highly recommend this book!!

3.5 ⭐️ not gonna lie. I struuuugggllleddd reading this book. I ended up switching to an audiobook so I get through it while working. But this was kinda a tough fantasy. Maybe I’ll read the next one. Who knows
I found the FMC to be very one dimensional. I waited for her get more complex but she made little to no progress by 36% of the way through. I found the relationship between the FMC and MMC to be lacking in chemistry.
