This is such a fascinating world of Vampires or Drainiacs as they're called in the book, with different lore firmly centred in Afro mythos and folklore.

The world is well built and revealed but by bit through the story and while there is an enemies to lovers element don't expect to necessarily like them at first.

In fact this was the only element of the book I struggled with personally is that I found the interactions between the main characters frustrating for about a third of the book where they kept circling the same damaging patterns. I actually took a short break from reading at that point and boy and I glad I did because I came back to it fresh and devoured the rest.

Check this out it's a great first novel and I can't wait for the sequel

Maravilloso, nunca leí libros sobre vampiros, nunca me habían llamado la atención y este libro lo hizo todo bien. Nada es cursi, ni excesivo, las descripciones son lo suficientemente atractivas para llamar la atención, pero no para ser irreales.
Son el tipo de vampiro que se acerca más a la idea de cuestionar qué te hace humano y lo adoré.
Adoro también el tipo de persona que es Kidan. Nunca había leído a un personaje que pudiera compaginar o aceptar cosas tan terribles de si misma.

DID NOT FINISH: 11%

dnf @ 11%, I was so excited to read this but it just wasn’t good. I did not like the fmc at all, she was whiny about not knowing things but then would just make assumptions without asking for details and I found her to be hypocritical when it came to violence bc homegirl had violent tendencies ! Maybe I’ll pick this one up again at a future date but for now it’s a dnf
