It just wasnt the vibe. It felt like a weird mish mash of a lot of things and it started feeling like romantasy or something. I was looking for a horror book but it is more like a forced romance with this companion bond and defanging stuff.

DID NOT FINISH

DNF at 60% - I haven’t been this sad about a DNF in quite awhile. I was really excited to read this. I got a physical copy for Christmas, and it had been on the top of my TBR. The physical book is stunning. But, since Christmas I have restarted four times. That should have been my sign that this just isn’t for me. There have been a few good scenes that have been keeping me going, but it was a slow agonizing crawl for me between these few scenes. Unfortunately, I’ve reached the point where it no longer feels worth it to keep going.

Ugh give me more NOW! This book was absolute torture set in a dark academia vampire world. The slow burn was almost unbearable and I was losing my mind it was sooo well done! I really loved the lore and the world in this book, it was super unique in its vampire lore and the world as a whole. I’ve never read a book that conquered loss and grief quite like this one but I was really loving it.

The main characters are all exceedingly flawed and complex, I’ve seen some people say they’re unlikeable but I think it just adds to world building personally! The characters are deeply affected by their world and the consequences of their actions and I really liked that!

Anyway give me a book 2 nowwww!!
