What I love about this book is that it's not your typical "I hate you, oh wait, I love you" book. From the very beginning Evie and Carter acknowledge their mutual attraction to and admiration for each other. But then their careers are put on the line. Careers that they both love and are essentially married to. What else can they do but do their best to keep their jobs? There are a few unprofessional moments, but you can't really blame either of them.
I adore how diverse Christina Lauren's female characters are. Every single one of their female characters are strong and kickass in their own way. Evie is no different. What a badass!

Between a 3 and a 4 for me. I liked the main duo and their goofy conflict but felt like they went too fast from love to hate to love

4⭐️ I was honestly so entertained by this. it started out kinda slow and boring but then it just got so funny and enjoyable. it wasn’t the best book or plot but the rivalry and the banter and the “I hate that I want you” was just so good. I honestly loved evie and carter and all their friends. the entertainment and laugh out loud moments were definitely not lacking. CLo always has you when you need a laugh.

I love CLo, but this was a major miss for me. Reading the acknowledgements, it is said this book was a struggle to get written, and it shows. I didn't like any of the characters. While sexism in the workplace is frustrating and real, it was misdirected towards the male MC instead of the actual perpetrator making the character of Evie a stereotype. It ruined the rooting value of both main characters. Any chemistry that was developing was lost and by the time the tension broke, I no longer cared about any of them. I feel the authors were so set on using this book as a statement that the story was almost an after thought built around it. I also think it was a vehicle to distance this book from both the Beautiful and Wild Season series. I prefer a strong equal balance between the characters and this was lacking that making this whole book felt forced. It's the first CLo book that made me happy it was over.

This was not bad but not great. It was a hate to love romance in an office setting. I’ll be honest, the Hating Game by Sally Thorne was much better and I recommend that book a lot more.
