“How can you move on if you can’t let go?”
The Last Goodbye was a beautifully written story about Anna who’s grieving over the sudden loss of her husband Spencer. Anna calls Spencer’s phone to hear his voice on his voicemail as she grieves, until one night, someone answers.
Brody, a man also grieving the loss of someone he loves and suffering from anxiety and agoraphobia now has her husbands’ old phone number. He talks to Anna any time she calls. Over the course of a year these two grow closer. They support each other through their grief and help each other to see the light again.
This was a slow burn but it was heartbreaking and heartwarming. She beautifully depicted Brody’s character. You could just feel his fears and anxiety. Your heart broke for Anna and Brody both. It was wonderful watching their relationship blossom, even never meeting.
Abby’s best friend Gabby was also an amazing friend and co-heroine in this story. This was a really emotional, beautiful story.
Thank you @harpercollins and @netgalley for an ARC for my honest review.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This book is about grief, hope, and acceptance, especially in the wake of tragedy. This story broke me and remade me in all the best ways. I was drawn into Anna's mind right from the first pages, her grief so real and palpable on the page. And Brody. His characterizarion was superb.
This book made me cry more than once. I cared for these characters and the journey they went on together. I loved the way they ended up, that the journey was the focus and not necessarily the romance. This book was fantastic, so poignant and full of heart.

Overall this okay but it was dull and slow paced. It quick and easy read and the plot weak. The cover was okay and the charachers okay but boring.
QOTD: what’s a book that you think has been underrepresented on bookstagram?
I just finished @fionalucasauthor’s The Last Goodbye, and I’m surprised that I haven’t seen more of it in the bookstaverse.
First of all, the cover is on trend and it’s (accurately) been compared to One Day in December by @josiesilverauthor (which I know is well-liked in the book world).
To boot, it is just this really sweet and sweeping story of Anna and Brody who are individually grieving loved ones lost and their journey back to hopefulness.
The supporting characters are all as interesting as the main characters and the slow burn feels really authentic (though the way Anna and Brody meet is sort of far-fetched IMO).
I’m thankful to have been granted an audio copy from @williammorrowbooks @netgalley and will be adding a physical copy to my shelves, for sure (released June 8, 2021)
Trigger ⛔️ panic disorders, grief

I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. I loved it, it was an emotional story and the characters were so believable, the story drew me in and I found it hard to put the book down. I will be recommending this book to my friends.
