WHAT A BEAUTIFUL NOVEL!
This novel is truly amazing. We follow Anna as she deal with the grief of losing her husband in an unexpected accident. Anna learns to navigate life - deal with the grief, manage her relationship with her in-laws, find her self and most importantly - find new love. The beginning of this book is every romantics worst nightmare. Losing the love of your life is an unimaginable pain and I truly believe the author wrote it as close to perfection as possible. The pain of moving forward everyday is truly felt through Anna and her attempt at starting a new relationship was deeply moving. The writing was gripping and I found myself hooked on the plot and wanting to read it through every moment of the day. I put off this book for so long, but it was definitely one I should have picked up months ago!

So sloooooow and problematic, and then 30 pages before the end ALL THE (PREDICTABLE) THINGS HAPPEN. 2.5

Anna's husband, Spencer, died unexpectedly over 3 years ago. On NYE, desperate, Anna dials Spencer's number to hear his voicemail, only for Brody to answer Spencer's number. Brody is the only person who seems to understand what Anna is going through, and the more they talk, the closer they become. However, Brody is keeping a secret from Anna that could ruin their friendship.

Wow, this book. I'm usually not a fan of audiobooks as I find them hard to concentrate on, but I really wanted to read this book, so I tried it out anyway. This narrator was amazing, and I found myself sitting in my car for 30 minutes after I had gotten home to finish a couple more chapters.

I have recently read multiple books where a spouse dies, and though I've never lost a spouse, this book felt the most realistic to me. I felt such genuine pain for Anna and Brody, and I wanted to hug them both.

I really enjoyed all the characters of this book - even the unlikable one(s) because, again, they just felt realistic to me. Not everyone is perfect - we say things we don't mean in the heat of the moment, and it's ok not to immediately grovel for forgiveness.

I can't say much else without giving spoilers, but the slow build of all this and that ending - not all love stories are lust filled. And I really appreciated that about this one.

Thank you SO much for the ARC of this one, Netgalley.

4.5/5 stars.

This book was adorable and had so many layers that were interesting to read through. I LOVED how this author portrayed mental health and the struggles that go along with it—I was not expecting that aspect of the book.

I’m giving this 3.5/5 stars because it was a good read but definitely way too long. It seemed to go on and on and there was no major twist, even tho it’s a romance novel. It was cute tho and a light read despite the mental health talk!

3.5 stars

This book is absolutely amazing! It was so heartfelt and I even wept a little bit.

It was ok. It felt like there was a lot of repetition when it came to what Anna was thinking/feeling. Lots of unnecessary explanations and descriptions. Was hard to feel as though I were the characters. Brody had a good story

Anna’s husband Spencer died tragically and suddenly when he was hit by a car. She is still grieving when two years later, she calls his old cell number just to hear his voice. But instead of getting Spencer’s voicemail, she gets Brody, who is navigating his own grief. The two find a friendship through a series of phone calls, and help each other through their pain.

This was a heavy read from beginning to end. It was a beautiful journey of grief and healing, but don’t go in expecting a lighthearted read. That being said, this was a powerful story. I could feel Anna’s pain and seeing her navigate her grief and open herself up to new beginnings was beautiful. I loved that it showed that not everyone grieves in the same way. This one will really touch all of your emotions, so have the tissues ready.

Thank you to William Morrow Books and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. This book will be released tomorrow.

This is a slow burn romance full of beauty, depth, and sorrow. I also enjoyed the emphasis it put on connection and relationship, especially when you’re walking through a tough season. We all have them in some form or fashion, and I think this book highlights how different people handle them. I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narrator and the pace of the story. It isn’t a quick or typical romance, but anyone who has experienced grief understands the slow, sometimes backward, progress the path can take. I enjoyed Anna’s character and walking alongside her as she worked out how to move on from the tragic loss of her husband. She’s definitely the kind of heroine you’re always rooting for, even if she doesn’t do what you think she should.

3 years after losing her husband in a tragic accident, Anna is still trying to figure out how to live her day to day life normally. When she calls her husband’s phone number, just to hear his voice, she is surprised to hear someone answer her. Is it him?
Anna develops a relationship with this mystery man, and finds he understands her journey of grief all to well. She begins healing, only to find out that he may be hiding something from her.

I received a free audiobook copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
