This book was assigned in one of my classes. While it was interesting and informative, I found Pauline's point of view to be extremely off-putting and downright uncomfortable to read at some points. I did like Nanapush's point of view. He was an interesting character.

I understand why Erdrich layered the chapters by point of view and I respect her choice, but I don't think I would have read this book if given the choice.

It goes without saying that I won't be reading this again.

While the story is intriguing and intricate, the structure is confusing and hard to follow. Not one you can fully grasp without multiple readings- though, I’m not sure I’m intrigued enough to try again. I’m interested in reading criticisms surrounding it and seeing what others have taken from this work.
