This book...
It comes with a warning so be careful when you read it. if you suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, or suffer from paranoia don't read the book, it can trigger you. It made me stop a few times but I f*cking love it to bits.

If you are into your horror and nasty things then this book is for you.

I really don't know why I read this one, but it's dark and disturbing and disgusting, and was kind of a fun read. Like every nasty slasher film put into book format.

2 stars - this book is obviously a self publish, could have used a good liberal editing job, lots of typos, etc. Too much torture porn, and not enough characterization. Felt like a book that was written to become a movie. I liked the inherent idea of women who run triathlons being forced to cope in unbearable circumstances but the book really did *not* go the way I thought it would and took a freaky and unwanted turn into the macabre rather than suspense. I don't mind gore or I wouldn't read so many zombie novels but I felt that the whole triathlon thing just became a gimmick rather than a plot detail inherent to the story.

If you like Texas Chainsaw Massacre type stuff (which is really the closest comparison to this book) it would be worth the 2.99 price on Amazon, otherwise I'd say skip it.

This book was incredibly engaging, fast paced, and horrific beyond belief. Though I'm a huge fan of horror, and I loved the pace and genuinely rooted for the main characters of the book, I couldn't get past all of the awful ableist and incestuous tropes. It was so overwhelming to the point where it seemed to lack any purpose other than shock value. There were many times in this book that crossed the line between truly good horror and unnecessarily foul torture porn. I can't believe I managed to stomach through the entirety of this book. If you ever want to read a book that's like a combination of the X-Files episode home and the movie hostel, have fun.

This was my first real horror novel and I've read it so many times, that I thought it might be worth reviewing. What initially drew me to the book is that I'm from West Virginia and I was just plain curious. I do feel like the inbred West Virginia thing is played out, but it worked. Don't let other reviews scare you away, its not nearly as gory as other readers have stated. In my opinion, it's just enough and stops before it gets too squirm worthy. That being said, proofreading goes along way. There were quotations in the wrong places and there were instances where characters were being called by the wrong names. There were some humourous bits, or at least I found some parts rather funny. And it gets weird because guess where else I've lived? Georgia. All in all this was a good read and again, something I've read many times and one that I will continue to reread.

This is your typical backwoods, deformed hillbillies terrorizing people premise, but the execution is fantastic. There are a ton of characters in the book, but it's easy to follow along with them all and I quickly took to them and cared about their survival. Once I got into the story, I couldn't put it down. There was so much tension and just wanting to know what was going to happen next.

I don't scare easily, but this book was creeping me out and I was worried I might have nightmares (while I did dream about secret passages, it was more fun than scary).

I usually reserve a 5-star rating for something that I think is truly outstanding literature and think everyone should read, but it's so hard to find a good horror story and I just loved it, so it gets my highest rating. I can't wait to read some of his other works like Afraid and Trapped. So glad he self-published this rather than letting an editor tear this story to pieces.

His stuff is always very readable. Not great literature, but a lot of fun.
