This was my first book by this author, and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to more in this series.
Cameron Blackmore loves what he does, but hates who he does it for. He runs a private security firm in Australia, under the umbrella of his family business, now run by his father. It was started by his grandfather, who he loved more than anything, which is why he'll never walk away from it, regardless what his father tries to do. He and his co-workers are great at their jobs, but they like to have fun and blow off steam too. Sometimes, what they are doing shows up in the papers, and makes them look like playboys. The board of the corporation (headed by his father) doesn't like that, and they decide to send a PR expert from NYC down to keep tabs on the situation. Cameron resents the intrusion, and decides to have one more night of fun before they have to start playing it safe for a while. He finds a beautiful woman at the hotel bar, and has an amazing night. Now, he can't wait to send the PR guy home with nothing to show for his trouble. But plans change when Jackson shows up in his office.
Jackson McAllister is all woman, and don't think she hasn't heard all the jokes about having a man's name before. After her amazing first night in Sydney, she's ready to tackle her work head-on. Too bad her work turns out to be all about her mystery man from the night before. Now, she has to be totally hands-off, and do what she came to do. Easier said than done, when she wants nothing more than both their hands, EVERYWHERE. She just got out of a terrible relationship where her ex cheated, and said she wasn't exciting, so she has had to get her own very expensive apartment. She's got a travel notebook of all the places she wants to go, and things she wants to do, SOMEDAY, and she can't afford to botch this job and throw off all her plans.
Jackson and Cameron had amazing chemistry, and you could feel their zing right through the pages. I enjoyed their fast connection, and watching that connection grow into something really special. I loved the other 3 guys Cameron works with, and their brotherly relationship with each other, and I'm definitely looking forward to learning more about them in future books. One of them is already married, and his backstory sounds super interesting, but it also made me feel like I was missing some important prior info. This is book 1, so that was a little off-putting. I looked up the author's back catalog to see if maybe this was a spin-off from his story, but I couldn't find anything like that, so I'm not sure what to make of it.
Both Jackson and Cameron had big chips on their shoulders, for various reasons. It was fun to watch them struggle with their preconceived notions about how their lives would turn out, and come to embrace their new reality. It wasn't easy for either of them, but they had to decide what was worth fighting for. I know this was meant to be a shorter book, but I would not have minded a little more family backstory for both of them. The glimpses we got of each of their parents weren't very flattering, and I would have liked a little more detail on that history, and maybe more resolution about that part of their lives.
Overall this was a very steamy and enjoyable little story. I am definitely interested in reading the remainder of the books in this series.

So your CEO father is sending a PR expert to “review” your company, except your father is kind of a scumbag out to get you so this all reeks of a set up. You just happen to catch the eye of a sexy brunette at the bar and you find yourself having one incredible, no strings, anonymous hookup the night before the PR dude is coming to ruin everything. Then you go to work the next day and the PR guy shows up except he is a SHE and YOU SLEPT WITH HER LAST NIGHT.
Whoa, guys, how much fun is that intro? The characters meet, have wicked amazing sex, then discover they have to work together, juggling private agendas and personal desires and insecurities the whole time. And you know what is even better? Both the hero and the heroine were competent and good at their jobs even while feeling the sexy, sexy attraction. They both had issues and problems to overcome, both external and internal. It wasn’t just some billionaire hunk ordering the weak heroine to get over herself in the name of luurve– both had compelling issues to overcome. The emotional journey to a happy ending was just as satisfying as the sexual one.
