A hauntingly beautiful classic I read at school. Very descriptive in specification of brooding landscapes. Dark house and wind swept mores

I would call it a rather strange book, with some quite absurd characters. I would say that Emily does a good job in expressing all the strong emotions of the characters and allows them to go through the story with little touch of insanity here and there. I really liked the setting with the two houses (mostly) isolated from the rest of the world and with its wild nature. A good motivation for me was the description of the houses and the nature outside which was quite captivating with its atmosphere. I felt like I did not quite get the plot fully, but I felt satisfied with the ending, a bit twisted regarding Heathcliff and the sweet union of Cathrine and Hareton (the only characters who was fairly relatable and worth my empathy) . it’s quite a grim story full of traumatic events happening around the characters with Heathcliff in the center and with Cathy right next to him, like a single matchstick next to a handful of dynamite. Neither are likable, I even go towards hate for these characters. The escalation of such thirst for revenge is quite extreme but I quite like how it sort of creeps into the plot over time. I liked the whole ghost thing, but I wished it would appear more throughout the book.
It was a nice visit to Wuthering Heights, now I will dust off my jacket and try something a bit more bright, perhaps pride and prejudice or something.

Once this book stops focusing on Catherine Earnshaw, it becomes infinitely better. Jesus Christ, that woman is insufferable.
