Absolutely excellent! I'm seeing character development in a whole new light. Unlike anything I've ever read before.

Kinda boring

I found this book to be disturbing and sad overall. In a way, though, it was a comforting, slow read. I thoroughly enjoyed the poetic prose of Bronte. This is my first Bronte book. I will try Jane Erye next and hope that it is more uplifting than this one. The four stars is for the writing style and not so much for the story itself. Although the story was a tragedy for the most part, it was an enjoyable read between the print and audio book. The narrators were very good.

Navigating a messed up family with a crowd of very complicated characters that you simultaneously feel terrible for and despise.

real literature

A masterpiece? Yes, probably, but I'm not sure that I enjoyed it and I was glad to reach the end.
Most of the characters are extremely unpleasant, even revolting and this includes both Heathcliff and Cathy. It's a strange, weird and fascinating novel.
