3.5⭐️ The storyline was confusing to follow along at first but came together nicely at the end - a mindf*ck for sure.

I thought this was a very solid mystery novel. It had some turns that I did not guess and when it all came together, it felt well thought out. I can see some foreshadowing in the book that alluded to the twists.
Spoiler ahead and ONE rant about the book!!!
I cannot fathom forgiving anyone, even my mother, for the actions that Edie took. Why didn't she tell the cops that she thought the girl on her doorsteps took Elena? Why would she keep that to herself and then still never tell her daughter that the long lost daughter she gave away had come looking for Clio? I know that Edie acknowledges that she was not a good mother, but her decision to keep quiet all of those years just seems so.... harsh, extreme, without purpose? How can Clio even begin to ingest that information like 20 years later? Just nuts.
