When I first saw this cover, it did give me new adult sports romance vibes and so I thought that this would be a spicy read. Then I found out upon reading that this is set in high school and was hesitant that this book would not be appropriate. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case. This book would be perfect for teens who want to get into the hype that new adult sports romance brings, but at a more age appropriate level. Do not expect spice because this book is clearly YA. As an adult, I will say this was probably written too young for me to fully enjoy, but I still appreciated this nonetheless. 

So, going back to the cover…it does give new adult sports romance vibes and definitely gives off the wrong impression. So commentary for that is: do NA books need to stop being illustrated, or should YA take a different approach?

Romeo and Juliet but make it rural Minnesota, high schools, and hockey. Why can't I stop reading sport romances?? Idk idk. The ice skating part killed me tho 💀💀
