What a fun little novella! Two men meet on the subway and are attracted to each other - to the point that August makes sure he's on the same train every day just for the chance to look at the object of his affections. Affections which are, luckily, returned. The two begin talking and something begins to build between them.

However, August has some trauma from a past relationship and almost lets it derail the new thing forming between them.

Some of the book was a bit rushed, but it was a novella - you expect a certain amount of rush. I think that Briar put in a great conflict for the short length of the book, something that was easily explained and overcome but something that gave the book a few stakes.

The Crush is a fun and funny dual POV novella about two men with an almost instant connection, several weeks of just looking at each other, and then a fast swan dive into the choppy waters of love. It is low angst and a fun quick read. Bonus points, its also free through the Prolific Works Your Book Boyfriend's Boyfriend giveaway so don't hesitate to go out and grab it.

Cute, low angst novella. I liked the writing well enough to seek out more by this author.

Sød og let. Elskede deres Meet Cute i toget. Slutningen var alt for hurtigt overstået. Det vænner jeg mig nok aldrig til med den her genre: "2 år senere og alle er lykkelige."

I really love most of Briar’s books and I was liking this too. It was so sweet and lovely. I thought it was going to be just this slice of life novella about two guys falling in love, day by day, on the subway. And I was honestly feeling those vibes. But there was a misunderstanding that happened that a simple conversation could have resolved. Now I get that August’s past made him anxious about a certain situation. But I still think he could have simply talked to Caleb. The issue was resolved fairly quickly and the two were pretty adorable after. But I guess I was in a grudge holding mood because I couldn’t connect after that. I might just have my grumpy pants on and you should probably ignore me.

This started well, then got rushed and cliched. It also includes inadvisable
post big dinner sex. (Just sayin’, if you’re so full you can barely move, maybe wait an hour before going to pound town?)
