Rebecca Ross has a beautiful writing style. Her words flow so nicely into my head while I’m reading. If you liked Divine Rivals, you’d also enjoy this. The vibes were mystical and enchanting. Information about the folk was a little bit confusing to me but I’m assuming that will be touched upon more in the second book. I adored Sidra the most, her character made me love the story. The reason it wasn’t a five star read was because the pacing was very slow. That would’ve been fine if it had been more character focused but it wasn’t really. I feel that the lack of plot and character development created an imbalance within the story, causing it to get boring at times. That being said, if you’re all about the vibes of this book then you’ll probably love it despite the aforementioned issues.

I loved this. I love all the characters and I LIVE for Sidra. I was so angry the last 10 pages, not knowing there was a sequel, but thinking there MUST BE ONE. I am Jack and I am Sidra but I am also Adi.

Unique magic system in a very Irish but not Ireland setting. I liked all of the characters and the mystery element. The ending was kind of a let down but I suppose it sets up the conflict for the second book in some way. My only real issue is the way the island is divided and the two sides are constantly warring due to a long ago feud. With how quickly they can travel to the dividing line, they can’t be that far apart — how have they gone 200+ years without attempting to work together and smooth over the feud?!
