I finished "Three to get Deadly." by Janet Evanovich, in about 3 days flat. It's a book about Stephanie Plum, a spectacularly incompetent bounty hunter. Admittedly, the book isn't a terribly long, and doesn't have many twists and turns, but the story itself certainly rattled along at a cracking pace.

The good thing about this book series is that the character seem to have a definite arc and are developing and evolving from book to book. I'll certainly be reading some more books in the series, but not right away.

There are times when I suspect that if you read too many books by an author or a book series, you tend to get over used to it and forget why you started reading it in the first place (if that makes since).

I'm hooked on Stephanie Plum... As improbable as things become, a crazy logic springs forth. Love the wit and great characters...

Sadly, I got bored with the Stephanie Plum books... They were funny enough, but they're all basically the same. I hope I can pick them up again, but I only got about halfway through this one before I lost interest.

series has improved

The third installment has been the best one yet. I enjoyed this story the best, as far as the bounty hunter case is concerned. I liked the upping of Lula and Ranger's characters. Still would like to see Stephanie become a little less inept at taking care of herself...

This is about where the car explosions become poor Stephanie’s “thing.” I truly love these books. I’ll be at work just going about my daily life and start bursting out laughing because of some craziness she finds herself in. Especially in this one when the people bust in her apt and threaten Rex, only to get bitten by Rex, and held at gunpoint by Trenton Senior Forces.

Totally unrelated but I think around the time book 30 came out, I was trying to figure out about how much time as a whole had passed from the beginning of the series. And some places online were saying things like “Stephanie Plum turns 50!” and I’m like... that literally cannot be. Not only did Rex not live for 30+ years, but there are so many times when you start the new book, it references the things from the previous book(s) as only a matter of weeks ago. So anyway. If I had to guess, just at the rate time passes in the books and seemingly between the books, lets say its 3 months on average, we’re at about 7.75 years. I can accept and work with that. Except… not really because again Rex. And Grandma Mazur. And Stephanie’s mom hasn’t completely lost her shit over Stephanie not being married or having kids. So idk. Maybe 5?

Anyway. Full recommend as usual. And, again, I really do seem to be diggin’ Joe Morelli this time around, despite the whole cop thing.

I've read and re-read this series for years. The last time I recorded a re-read was July 3, 2009.
