This was an ok sequel to the first book. It didn't involve the protagonists from book 1, so don't be expecting to see them. We do get to see the lighter side of Ashe, however. I felt, like the other book, her characters are a little wooden and not well formed. Even during "the kiss," you are not really involved in the characters and it isn't believable. This author could use some more research time reading romance novels or something seeing how to build up some chemistry and angst. It was very short, so I don't feel like I lost anything. I probably will read the next book in the series. Lukewarm review.

A friend found this for me at a charity shop, because I've been trying to find the terrible book series about vampires that I read on holiday when I was a teenager! This isn't the one, but such an enjoyable experience for alllll the wrong reasons.

As a simple young adult book, it was pleasantly enjoyable for a while. I like some common tropes & the main character had her own dreams and desires, making her more relatable. However, as I approached the 2nd half of the book, I was concerned about how the book was going to wrap up. So much had been set up that it was going to be difficult to have a good conclusion. True to form, the conclusion took place over only 40 pages, it left a bad taste in my mouth.

The entire book set up the premise that the Night World’s laws are unavoidable and that it would take some serious thinking to get around it. By the conclusion, they have a simple “Oh we’ll just do XYZ!” which took the bite out of a previously serious issue.

Last but not least- I know that being soulmates is a trope, one I can enjoy- but having the pair fall completely in love in 2 days felt very forced and I don’t feel like we got to know Ash at all.

In conclusion: It had promise as a nice young adult paranormal romance, but it was far too short to reach its potential. Not the worst crime of a book, but I won’t be rereading it due to that ending.

Pretty standard stuff -- tweeny bopper paranormal romance, relatively minimal violence and no sex to speak of. Not great literature, but not dreadful. Fine for in-the-car listening-- memorable enough that when I listen to the next book in the series I remember the basics from previous ones, but not memorable enough for me to be able to write an individual review for each book months after I listened to them.

This is not necessarily a GOOD book, but it is delightful and that is truly what matters. I'm not sure if I would love it as much if I didn't have preteen nostalgia for it - I loved all of L.J. Smith books - but as is, I had a grin on my face the entire time I was reading it. It's what Twilight should have been.

What a fun, good time! Love a good PNW book. Echoing the previous reviews: this is like Twilight but better, with a much better sampling of strong female characters. Perfect for a quick read to plunge me straight back into middle/high school!

I enjoyed how a side character in book one became a branch to continue the Night World in book 2. This story had Twilight vibes to it. The three sisters were a nice change since most stories have a leading guy or guy only instead of three family members. Curious what characters we will see in book 3 and if the world will continue to follow Ash or another character we've already met.

Not as good as the first one in the series. The characters were rather superficial and not well developed. Hopefully book 3 is better.

It wasn't the best reading ever, but had a cool ending and I'd like to know what happens next in this world.
No fue la mejor de las lecturas, pero tuvo un buen final y me gustaría saber qué sucede en este mundo.
