I found myself really excited and happy for the first quarter of this book, then steadily more disappointed as I continued reading... The archaeology was the only redeeming feature of the book, while all the plot with Aslan and the submarine and the extensive technical details of the underwater technology was dull, unnecessary, and confusing.

I really liked this book. At first, I thought that the whole Atlantis story was going to be all about the Minoan culture on Crete, which is what EVERYONE talks about when talking about Atlantis, but thankfully it wasn't! This is actually a COMPLETELY different story and theory of Atlantis than I have ever heard or read, which I have to admit is a big part of why I like the book!!! lol

There is one thing that kind of bugs me about the book...and that is how they kind of magically have all of these resources available to them that a) would never be available to every day archaeologists, b) would COST WAYYYYYYY too much for everyday archaeologists(most do NOT have a "benefactor" like in the book), and C!!) most of the things that they have to make their journey possible are not even possible with today's technology as far as we know. some of it is just a little too sci-fi for me.

But that is the only problem I really have with the book, and yes, I know it is fiction. I just kind of feel like if you are going to make it a somewhat believable story don't put your hero in situations where you have to make up things to save him. Just saying.

But I do still really like the book and definitely recommend it!! There will be a more in-depth review on my blog soon!! http://rendezvouswithabook.blogspot.com/

This book is so spectacularly terrible you might want to read it to just wallow in the terribleness.

I love a good story! Deep sea diving. Archeology. Intrigue. Betrayal. A touch of love and a lot of loyalty. Nothing gruesome of inappropriate. Great read. Looking forward to the next book!

Interesting as a text book on made up archeological techniques, but utterly unreadable in character development.

Plot line:
Could not tell you.

Opinion:
I couldn't finish this book. I tried, truly I did. I even gave it my standard 150 pages to prove that it was worth reading. Just could not do it. If you like underwater archaeology, this is definitely the book for you. However, I felt like I was reading a text book. Actually, I believe I've had more interesting text books than this.

Does something happen in this book? Probably. Just not in the time that I gave it to win me over. Venture at your own risk.
