4.75 - really enjoyed it, recommended to a bunch of people, and really gives you something to chew on after reading. Not a 5 star just because as much as I enjoyed it, I was able to put it down and take breaks in reading vs being totally hooked (what I need for how I describe 5 stars).

Disappointing since I absolutely loved his novels "The Sympathizer" and "The Committed." I appreciate his attempts to understand himself. But it feels like there is a lower bar for his writing when he is writing about himself.

This is such a well-written memior. I especially appreciated the understated humor, even when dealing with difficult subjects.
