Quiet, melancholy, child-minded, beautiful.

This book had a sad twist but could be a good resource for kiddos with missing pets!

I initially gave this all the stars, but am rethinking it. I want to reread before I rate.

I acknowledge that this is a good book with great art. However I strongly disliked it. It was just unnecessarily depressing for a children’s book. And also, I think the ending was dishonest.

a bit sad, but also sweet - a fresh story with engaging illustrations

Touching and beautiful. The art work is superb. Bold lines and a cinematic feel bring the city and the increasing snow to life. Young readers will identify with the aspect of being small in such a large place. The story follows a child alone in the city giving advice to someone unknown. The story unfolds beautifully, highlighting the empathy and compassion the child has for this unknown recipient.

4 1/2 stars -
Kind of a heart-wrenching book! I enjoyed the loose illustrations, and the bit of a mystery in the storyline. This would be a great book for any child who's lost a pet or is looking for a lost pet, to see a story that's reflecting their reality. Parents might find it more touching than the kids, as they can see what's coming, and since the somewhat vague ending can be interpreted a couple of different ways.
