An absolute gem of a children's book, I wish I knew about it before. Ende's writing style is so descriptive and doesn't talk down to its audience at all. The setting and plot are extremely creative (pretty sure the men in grey are in some way the predecessors of the agents in the matrix) and well developed. Love the whole message of how rushing and 'saving time' ruins genuine interaction, but it's not as cliche as I make it sound. I guess the only thing I don't really like about this book is how Guido is pretty creepy but it's framed as a good thing. In many ways, this book resembles the style of The Neverending Story, but it's a bit more contained and focused which is also nice.
