Interesting story. Actually the story itself is simple, but the pop ups are definitely very elaborate. Definitely grabs the attention of the child. I think it's a good book to read over and over again with the child.

Not so sure that engaging one's young child in competition is such a fine parenting technique.
Every parent should read this book to their children. Even better, they should say this to their children everyday and mean it. The love of a parent to a child is so important. I don't think parents can tell their children they love them enough.
Brief summary - Father and son tell each other how much they love each other.
Annotation - This is a great bed time story to illustrate the love they have for each other in a friendly game of one upsmanship.
Age appropriateness 0-4 years old
Connection to six early literacy skills
Print Motivation - This is a story that children will want read again and again. They will identify with the amount of love they have for their own fathers.
Opinion - This is a great story for retelling and for reassuring children.

I always wanted a boy to buy this for me...I got tired of waiting and bought it for a boy instead.
The fact that I owned this book when I was incredibly young (and still have the same copy) most definitely makes me biased, but this is the cutest children's story I've had the pleasure of reading, and (embarrassingly) touches my heart to this day
Lovely story--probably wouldn't use for storytime again, better one on one with your own little.
I just went and bought a bunch of the books on my wish list for when we have kids. This was one of them. Can't wait to share this with our upcoming baby!
